The Vent Axia Lo-Carbon Centra is a 'System 3' decentralised mechanical extract ventilation fan - also known as an MEV unit. Designed for use in rooms with poor ventilation or historical damp problems, these special fans run continuously on a low 'trickle' setting to keep airflow constantly moving through the room. When the room experiences increased load - such as someone using the shower or bath - it may be switched to a 'boost' setting. 

This particular model - the 473828 HTP - can switch to boost or full power, by either a humidistat, which senses moisture in the air or by manual over ride pull cord. If the pull cord is used to boost the fan the timer will kick into operation and shut the fan off automatically after a pre set period of 2 - 30 minutes.
