Triple Pole Fan Isolator Switch

A three pole fan isolating switch is used, as the name suggests, to isolate power to the fan, so that it may be independently controlled without affecting other circuits.

It is required by the electrical regulations as a safety measure so as to avoid any confusion at the fuseboard which will house circuit breakers for many different circuits. The fan isolating switch cuts power, even if the wrong breaker is disabled during works.
