The fan does what we want and clears the bathroom, it is sensitive and will come on if outside humidity is high.This is a replacement for the same model that failed after 3 months so hope that is a rarity and it now performs long term. The service from Extractor fan world has been excellent very helpful and easy to contact.

I tested the fan on the bench before fitting and it made a loud grating noise - the fan blade turbine is friction fit and had been pushed on too far - a common fault apparently to these and Xpelair fans. I set the humidistat to 70% and for a couple of weeks its been fine (never turning on). The first rain we get and the fan detects the outside moisture - stupid. Had to increase the setting to 80%. The pull cord override is good but of course you can't tell if it's set or not if you use the overrun timer - you will find out if it still runs on after the time out. An LED colour change would have been useful to indicate cord override. No matter what anyone says its not silent nor quiet but it does shift air. The internal connection terminals are not great quality. The flappy back draught shutters do work but when its moderately windy the flapa bang loudly against the internal plastic so they are useless - had to remove them (they simply unclip). This fan replaced an Icon (which had the iris auto doors). They get a bit sticky and unsmooth even when visibly clean. Icon fan was quite loud too especially while the iris was opening. I've yet to find the perfect extractor fan that does everything well.
