Silavent Mayfair Classic MAY202B Discontinued

As of August 2026, the hugely popular and long-standing stalwart of the Mayfair Classic range has been discontinued. Domus, the rebranded Silavent manufacturer, took the decision to discontinue the MAY202B, which leaves many with a decision to make should they require a replacement for an existing MAY202B. 

The Mayfair range is a push-fit design which has proved incredibly popular for many years now, with the ability to pull the fan unit out of a mounting frame and replace it with a new unit without the need for re-wiring or calling in an electrician.

The good news is that there is a suitable replacement from the range available.

The MAY102B is the closest like-for-like replacement for the MAY202B. It's the same Mayfair Classic design, the same size (220mm x 220mm) - fitting the same backbox, and the same powerful centrifugal fan. It extracts at 22L/s, which suits bathrooms and other rooms with longer duct runs.

Many people worry that a discontinued fan means a bigger job: new ducting, new wiring, or even the need to make good the wall or ceiling before installing a different model. Not here.

No rewiring is needed. The connections stay as they are. No need to switch manufacturer. Moving to another brand can mean a different size, different fixings and an electrician's bill. The MAY102B avoids all of that. Many Mayfair owners tell us they replaced a unit that had been running for decades in a matter of minutes.

What's different from the MAY202B? One thing: the MAY102B has no overrun timer. The MAY202B kept running for a while after you switched it off. The MAY102B is a simple on/off fan, so it starts with the lights and ends when the lights are turned off. Everything else about the fan stays the same.

When Silavent rebranded to Domus, we continued to advertise the fans under the Silavent name so that customers who needed to find replacements could locate them easily. As mentioned before, these units are built to last, and customers who bought a Silavent-branded unit 20 years earlier wouldn't know to look for a replacement under the name Domus. Similarly, as the MAY202B was by far the most popular model, removing all trace of it would mean we couldn't pass on this information to customers easily to help them find a straightforward replacement.
