Vent Axia Sentinel Kinetic Whole House MVHR Range
MVHR, which stands for mechanical ventilation with heat recovery, is a ventilation system designed to provide continuous low-rate air supply and extraction throughout an entire dwelling, in compliance with Building Regulations Part F System 4. Typically, this unit is installed either in a loft space or cupboard, with rigid ducting delivering fresh, filtered air to the habitable rooms while extracting stale, polluted air from the "wet" rooms. The supply and extract diffusers are usually installed on the ceiling and can be adjusted to balance the system.
The MVHR unit features a polymer heat exchanger that preconditions the incoming air by recovering heat from the outgoing air before it is delivered to the habitable rooms. The efficiency of the heat exchanger can range from 70% to 95%, depending on whether it is of cross-flow or counter-flow design, with counter-flow being the most efficient. It is worth noting that current Building Regulations require higher thermal efficiencies, which makes the 95% heat exchanger the preferred option.
